Shelter the Homeless
The OLS Shelter the Homeless committee works toward finding shelter for those in need. The committee has worked with Habitat for Humanity to build local affordable housing. Currently the committee is partnering with The Haven in White River Junction. The Haven offers shelter for up to four families at a time for up to two months, food pantry for all, clothing room, and mentoring follow-up for families who have left the shelter. Donations of used furniture are greatly appreciated.

Recognizing the incredible need for interim shelter in the Upper Valley, The Haven is constructing a new building which will double its shelter capacity to eight families. The Shelter the Homeless Committee is spearheading a parish-wide fundraising commitment toward completion of one of the The Haven's Family Guest Quarters. There will be a plaque indicating the room was donated by Our Lady of the Snows Church. Donations can be mailed to: Our Lady of the Snows Haven Project, PO Box 397, Woodstock, VT 05091.

Visit the Sick
The OLS Visit the Sick committee is a source of love, support, and encourgement not only for the sick, but for housebound parishioners and those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Eucharistic Ministers assist Fr. Mosher in making visits to people unable to attend Sunday Mass, praying with them and bringing Holy Communion. When visiting is not appropriate, committee members send cards, notes, and prayers.

The Book of Intentions at the back of the church was contributed as a follow-up to suggestions made by this committee. It is available to all who wish to enter petitions to be remembered at Mass. Please contact the parish office to let us know of anyone needing assistance or if you would like to help in this ministry.

Feed the Hungry
The weekly bulletin indicates a specific food item to be donated for that month. These items are brought to The Haven. All other donations are brought to the Community Food Pantry at St. James Episcopal Church here in Woodstock. Our mission is to assist these two organizations.

The Community Food Pantry is open Wednesdays from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm and Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon. They can be reached at 457-1727

The Haven Food Pantry, 745 Hartford Avenue, White River Junction, Vermont, 295-6500. Volunteer opportunities at The Haven are available to stock shelves with donated food, sort clothes for the Clothing Room, and opportunities to mentor families.
