Christmas at Our Lady of the Snows

Perhaps Saint Paul, in his Letter to the Thessalonians, composed the perfect Christmas greeting: “May the God of peace make you perfectly holy and may you entirely, spirit, soul and body, be preserved blameless for the Coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We welcome you warmly to our Parish this Christmas.

The Nativity of Our Lord is the turning-point of human history. In the dark watches of that holy night in Bethlehem two thousand years ago, the transcendent God of the heavens sent His Only-begotten Son to be born of a woman, breaking into our humanity and lifting us up from sin to the very holiness of God. This is the reason for our celebration, the foundation of Christmas joy.

While the secular world celebrates New Year’s Day, we are actually celebrating the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. Placed here at the Octave of Christmas, this Feast demonstrates the centrality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, not only in the Christmas story, but in the life of the Church. She is the Mother of Our Savior, the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church.
